CURATE INSPIRATION
Send me an email at sarah.land.dresses@gmail.com letting me know your name and your area of interest (whether you just have questions, are looking to start the process, or are looking into options for a friend or relative who is getting married). If you are looking to start the process for yourself and you have a dress inspiration Pinterest board, the first step is to rename it to your “First Name Last Name SL Dresses”. You can then share it with my Pinterest account under the email sarah.land.dresses@gmail.com. Regardless of whether or not you have a Pinterest board, any other forms of inspiration, such as individual photos or screenshots, can be emailed to me with the subject line your “First Name Last Name SL Dresses".

DESIGNING YOUR DRESS
After I’ve received your rough inspiration via email and you’ve expressed a desire to work with me to create your custom dress, the next step is to schedule a Google Meet to talk about the design details together. The goal of this call will be to narrow down every detail you like and would change about your dress inspiration in order to create a clear vision of what exactly your dream dress looks like, including details such as material types and weights. By the end of this call, I will have drawn a visual sketch of your dress, which you will have helped me revise until satisfaction to ensure I have a clear understanding of your vision. Please note that pricing estimates will not be determined during this call, as I have not yet looked into any of the specifics of what your dress will require or cost. The price of your dress will be determined after the fabric has been decided on; therefore, you will not be required to pay anything until you know what the final price will be and have agreed to it.
03
MATERIALS
Based on the preferences you expressed through the Google Meet, the next step is for me to go out and find material for your dress. As I shop and look at options, I will send you photos and videos along the way so we can find the fabric perfect for you. Once we have found the one, I will determine what the overall dress will cost and let you know the amount in the following days.
04
MEASURMENTS & DEPOSIT
Having agreed to the price and with all the other details of the dress finalized, I will take your measurements, show you your fabric samples in person to guarantee it’s the right pick, and have you pay a 30% deposit so we can start to bring your dream to life.
05
ALTERATIONS
I do free, unlimited alterations throughout the creation process to guarantee a perfect fit and a dress that fulfills your dreams. This does not mean you can change the overall style or material of the dress after the creation process has begun, rather it is to guarantee that the dress design previously established will fit like a glove for your special day. Throughout this process, you will have the opportunity to try on the undermost layer of the bodice as many times as you would like to guarantee a perfect fit. After this layer is finished, the outermost layer will be made to match it, therefore whatever alterations are wanted for the lining of the bodice must be communicated during the corset stage to avoid cutting into or marking up the delicate outermost materials. All desired alterations for the outermost layer of the bodice must be clearly communicated before the skirt is attached, and so on. I will also wait to complete any irreversible details of the back seam (zipper, buttons, etc), until shortly before your wedding to ensure the dress will fit perfectly.
Did You Know?
In Ontario, most custom wedding dresses are made to your measurements and shipped to you after completion, meaning that they almost always require alterations from a third party. For standard wedding dress alterations in Ontario, prices typically range between $300.00 and $800.00 CAD, while more complicated adjustments can reach and exceed $1,500.00. Sarah Land Dresses offers free, unlimited alterations throughout the process, guaranteeing a perfect fit every time.
06
FINALIZATION
When the day of your wedding is approaching, and it is time to complete your dress, how it will work is I take your measurements a final time to ensure my mannequin is set perfectly, sew in the zipper seam, buttons, etc., but keep the unfinished material in the back seam in case any adjustments need to be made. If you are fully content and can confirm that the dress is a perfect fit, I will take it back to work on it one final time to remove and finish all the edges of the excess material on the back seam.
07
PAYMENT & DELIVERY
At this time, you will be required to pay the remaining balance. Once this payment has been made, your completed dress will be personally delivered to you, marking the completion of the dress-making process. Please note that once the final payment has been made and your dress has been delivered to you, I am no longer responsible for any alterations you may want at a later time.
Assuming that it will consist of boning, built-in padding, a train, and will be made of typical luxury materials for the lining and outermost layers of the dress, the starting price is $2,000.00 (including free, unlimited alterations). Factors that may affect this price include the style of dress chosen, the type of material(s) needed, tulle and other overlays, decorative skirt layers, sleeves, crinoline underskirt(s), applique, pockets, embroidery, specifics of the train, beading, buttons running all the way down the back, sequins, bows, flowers, and more.
